Last week we posted Part 1 (View here) and now here is Part 2 of Anna and Rakesh’s Hindu Wedding at the Empire in Leicester starts with their Bride and Groom portraits.  I was really looking forward to this wedding.  Anna and Rakesh have awesome style and are lots of fun.  We had talked about their love of props in photographs and Rakesh said he was going to try and get hold of a vintage motorbike for the shoot which was cool.  Rakesh’s mum had been hard at work making a traditional indian decorative umbrella as well.  When we found out that a fun fair was coming to town that weekend it was the icing on the cake!  I met up with Rakesh and Anna at Abbey park a few days before the wedding in the pouring rain to scout out the best backdrops for the photographs.  The wind was blowing a gail and all the blossom was falling like snow, very pretty but we were hoping at least some would stay on the trees for the wedding!   The fair was brilliant, I really enjoyed it.  There was so much to photograph we could of stayed all day but we had to get back to the guests for dancing and cake.

The evening celebrations got underway with music from the 5 Rivers Road show.  Anna and Rakesh cut their beautiful cake, Rakesh made a speech and the couple started the dancing in style.  Rakesh’s mum Kala found the biggest glass on the planet and made sure no one went thirsty! it was so funny to photograph, I was still laughing when I was editing the pictures!  Then after all that alcohol they let Rakesh loose with a sword!!!  I should have had a swig from the giant glass before I stood in front of him as he swung the sword round his head, quite a scary moment!   It was great day and a privaledge to work with such a lovely couple.  Congratulations to you both, enjoy the photographs.

A FEW THOUGHTS FROM ANNA & RAKESH

Q1) What were your favourite parts of your wedding day?
Bride: I loved seeing how happy the day had made both our families watching the huge smiles on their faces. The evening entertainment was amazing and everyone was having so much fun.

Groom: My favourite part of the wedding was when I arrived and had the grandest entrance I will ever probably receive. It was great to see all my family and friends together having fun. I also loved our first dance, it was beautiful watching Anna twirl in her sparkling wedding dress as the confetti fell around her. The spectacular sword display was also great, and made even better when I got to have a go!

Q2) What do you love about being married?
The best thing about being married is that we know we are going to be together forever, having both an English and an Indian wedding has bought our families closer together.

Q3) Tell us about your wedding venue and why you chose to get married there?
We chose the Empire because it has a real sense of occasion and contains so many beautiful features. It has a timeless look which is ultimately grand, yet also elegant.

Q4) What advice do you have for future brides and grooms when planning their wedding?
When it comes to planning a wedding you have to know what you want and be true to your own style. Remember it is your day but that you want your friends and family to have lots of fun and excitement.

Q5) Why did you choose Beautiful Life to photograph and film your wedding day?
We chose Beutiful Life Photography as from looking at their work quality instantly shines through. Joy and Shaun really know how to capture the emotion of a wedding day and tell a story through their work. To boot they are a lovely couple and you can tell they love what they do because they work so hard to get the best pictures they possibly can. They also had a very good understanding of the traditions of an Indian wedding ceremony.
