Loved this wedding!  The day went at an amazing pace, we started in Blackpool at the Hilton Hotel, photographing and filming Ling and the bridesmaids as they got ready for the boys to arrive.  At a Chinese wedding the bridesmaids have to prepare challenges and tasks for the groom and his groomsmen to complete in order for the groom to prove his worthiness and gain access to his bride.

Just as the groom arrived a seagull decided to drop its load all over my camera!!!  Shaun took a brief break from Videoing to be a hero and wiped it off with his shirt sleeve!!   Someone said it was good luck?   As you can see it was a typical summers day in Blackpool, rain and fog!

After the banana had been down everyones trousers Phil had to eat it, lovely!

We had the brides tea pouring ceremony and then we went to the grooms parents house for his ceremony.

From the grooms house we headed into Manchester to the Glamorous Chinese Restaurant for more celebrations and the wedding Banquet.

The Lion dancing was great to photograph.

I was a scared when the firework guy told us to hold our breath if the smoke blew over because one breath of it and you would pass out!!!  (don’t know if this is true but didn’t take any risks as we stood there in a cloud of smoke!!)

The Chinese Wedding Banquet was amazing, 12 courses.  I was full by about the 3rd!

After the Banquet the bridal party visit each table and the guests toast the newly weds

I just loved the purple glasses to match his purple shirt.

As promised here a few pictures from Sat and Amandeep’s Wedding Day.  Amandeep’s day started in Sutton Coldfield at around 4am with bridal preparations (luckily we didn’t have to be there until 7.30am!)  This wedding went at a pace with some lovely ceremonies and lots of great dancing. The wedding took place at the Gurdwara Nishkam Sewah Jatha in Birmingham followed by the wedding reception at the Second City Suite.

Maiyian, Choora and Jagoo Pre-wedding Ceremonies

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing Amandeep’s Pre-Wedding Sikh Ceremonies in Sutton Coldfield.  Her Maiyian and Choora Ceremonies were followed by the Jagoo all in one evening so there are hundreds of photo’s! Here are a few of my favourites.

The Maiyian ceremony was going to be outside, but as you can see from the sky the rain poured down and everyone headed for the marque!

Amandeep’s mehendi was amazing, it had taken hours to do.

We had a great day down in London over Easter photographing and filming Aisha and Akif’s wedding.   The reception was held at Christ Church in Spitalfields an amazing landmark building recently reopened and launched as a venue for events after undergoing a restoration project taking over a quarter of a century!  We were made to feel so welcome and were really well looked after by everyone, it was a pleasure to be part of such a beautiful and happy day.  Many congratulations Aisha and Akif and all the best for the future!

I’ve never been to a brides house on the morning of the wedding where it was so calm and relaxed.  It was lovely, time for a cup of tea and everything!

The rings were delivered so quickly I almost missed it!

My chosen Image of the month for January.  There are some quick, might work, might not work images you take at a wedding as the day rushes by and every now and again when you are working through the photographs afterwards there is a nice surprise and this is one of those shots.  I love the light and the colours.

Bridal preparations are one of my favourite events to photograph.  The calm before the storm, a chance to capture all the details as the picture builds.   The flowers arrive, the jewellery is carefully unwrapped and close friends and family gather to help the bride dress and prepare for her big day.  There’s a whole spectrum of emotions and special moments.  If you’re getting married I’d urge you to have preparations as part of you’re photography package, after all no story is complete without the introduction.

Here’s my chosen image of the month for December.  When I opened this image I just loved Amy’s thoughtful expression, captured at her Bridal Mehndi Ceremony got underway.  I just had to work on this picture straight away, and here it is.

Bengali Wedding – Bridal Mehndi Ceremony

Just a few days before Christmas we headed to St Albans to Photograph and film Amy’s Mehndi Ceremony.  We set off from Leicestershire in the rain but as we headed south the snow got thicker and thicker.  St Albans was a complete winter wonderland, really pretty.

The Mehndi ceremony is part of the Bridal preparations and usually takes place just before the wedding.  As we arrived preparations were under way, the stage was decorated with amazing fruit displays, candles and flowers and then Amy arrived, she looked amazing.  All her family and friends took part in the ceremony exchanging fruit and sweets with each other.  Then the Grooms family arrived bringing with them gifts of food.  The Mehndi was applied to Amy’s hands and the evening ended with a lovely meal.  The details and the colours were stunning, I couldn’t decide which photo’s to post so I put lots of little shots into a montage which gives an overall impression of the evening.
