Saul and Sarah met whilst at University in Loughborough and decided to tie the knot here too. The sun was shining as Sarah got ready with her bridesmaids and it looked like it was going to be a lovely day. Then it was off to meet her groom at the church and say I do, Sarah is the first Bride that when the groom placed the wedding ring on her finger said ‘just shove it on’! I did smile! Sarah and Saul were a bit nervous about their wedding photography so we had done a pre-wedding shoot for a bit of practice so when it came to their portraits on the day they were like professionals! The rain held off until the last couple of pictures so the driver lent us his umbrella and we finished the shoot under there (well not we actually, I got wet!) The reception was held at The Carriage Hall in Plumtree. The meal was followed by speeches including two by the best men part of which included giving Sarah a survival kit in preparation for living with Saul, air freshener, gobstoppers, earplugs etc. I like to watch the groom’s mum’s face during the best mans speech very amusing, makes me glad I’ve got girls!! The band got going and people made their way onto the dance floor. The boys were very enthusiastic dancers, trouser splitting enthusiasm!! Congratulations to you both and thank you for looking after me so well on the day, enjoy the pictures.

Sheena and Hitan’s Civil Wedding, London

It’s been a really busy month for me, I think after the lovely weather we’ve had the past couple of years around easter a lot of people booked weddings in the hope of a few rays of sunshine but no such luck! I’ve never had a wedding yet where it’s rained all day until this one! Sheena and Hitan got married in Slough so it was another Premier Inn all you can eat breakfast for me (not exactly fat free but what Rosemary Conley doesn’t know…) I went to photograph a little of Sheena’s bridal preparations, the room was bustling with family all catching up with each other, apparently there hasn’t been a wedding in the family for quite a while so there was lots of excitement and noise as everyone got ready. We dashed out in the rain to capture Hitan arriving with all his family then it was on with the ceremony. The day went so quickly, there was lots of great Indian dancing which is always great to photograph and then we took Sheena and Hitan outside for a few portraits on their own. It was still raining so we used the canopy on the building and a blossom tree for a bit of shelter. The day ended back at Hitan’s parents house with a ceremony to welcome Sheena to the family. Newborn Photography Leicestershire | Baby William

It was lovely to be back with the Fennell family for another Newborn Photography session, this time to photograph brand new baby William. It doesn’t seem two minutes since I was taking big sister Islas newborn photos! At just fifteen months old it was a scary moment for mum letting Isla hold william on her own but the resulting photographs were definitely worth it! It is such a pleasure to be able to re-visit families and capture children as they grow and change and these two are just so sweet. Here are a few of his Newborn photos:

Greek Christening Photography Nottingham – Leon

Some more lovely Greek Christening Photos to share today. It was nice to return to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary Eleousa in Nottingham to photograph and film baby Leon’s Greek Baptism. Greek Orthodox Churches are beautiful to photograph in, they are full of ornate detail including stunning paintings and wood carving. The Baptism ceremony is really interesting, I always love the part where the baby goes in the font, most love it and some even splash away and one little boy I photographed even cried when he had to come out of the water! but some cry through the whole thing and this was the case for poor Leon! To be fair he was teething and wasn’t feeing too well or I’m sure he would have been fine! The Greek Christening starts with a blessing from the priest and then the baby is undressed, anointed with oil and baptised. The baby is then dressed in their Christening outfit which is all laid out beautifully ready for this part of the ceremony. Leon was not keen on his hat and as quick as mum tied it on he pulled it back off! Whilst the baby is being dressed the priest cuts a small piece of the baby’s hair and says another blessing. The ceremonial christening candles are lit and the Godparents walk around the font three times holding the candle whilst the bible is read. The ceremony was followed by a meal at a lovely Greek restaurant in Nottingham. I hope you enjoy the images from the ceremony.

Newborn Photography Milton Keynes – Baby Oscar

Another little cutie from my latest newborn photography session in Milton Keynes. This is little oscar at just 1 week old, he was tiny at just under 6lbs. Oscar was brilliant he slept happily right through the session and so did his big sister much to mums relief as she thought she might wake up from her nap and start directing the session! Oscars brother was out at school but had helped mum pick out a new Zebra hat for his baby photos, very cool (Oscar might not think so when he’s a bit bigger but we loved it)! It is such a privilege to work as a newborn photographer, I love chatting to the mums and sharing stories, it doesn’t matter how many newborn babies you see it is always amazing to see a tiny brand new life and to be able to capture those precious little features, their tiny fingers and downy skin and all their wrinkles. So here are a few of my favourite shots.

Funky New Wedding Albums | Wedding Photography

We have two more beautiful Wedding Albums to share with you today, the first is a Finao flush mount album in a funky textured leather called secret garden hence I was dying to take this book outside and photograph it in amongst the flowers but it’s the wrong time of year. Next best thing I went to visit Thrumpton Hall, a beautiful wedding venue in Nottinghamshire and photographed my albums there. Im a great believer in wedding albums being story books, at home on the book shelf or out on the coffee table where people can share and enjoy them together instead of something stored away in the attic and forgotten. At Thrumpton Hall there are hundreds of amazing books, collections of colourful books lining the shelves in the library, books open on display some hand written with amazing pencil illustrations. There were lots of other books just casually dotted around the house where people could pick them up and read them, books about instruments. My secret garden wedding album was right at home amongst the vintage books in the red room.

Our second Album is a Nubuk leather flush mount album from Redtree Albums. I just love this album, I love everything about it., the colour, the embossing on the cover even the smell! This company was started by a photographer making quality handmade books for his clients and now a few years on he sells these gorgeous hand crafted albums worldwide. English Wedding Blog features Alex & James

It was exciting to see the first part of Alex and James’s wedding at Harlaxton Manor featured yesterday on English Wedding Blog. When I found out the wedding was going to be on the blog Alex kindly agreed to write a few words for the post. Shaun forwarded alex’s email straight to Claire at English Wedding so when I looked at the post yesterday I really enjoyed reading it with all the personal details from the brides perspective. Alex and James were such a lovely, fun couple and it was a real privilege to photograph their day. The wedding was very busy but amazingly relaxed, definitely down to great planning. I was so impressed with all the little personal touches on the day, Alex’s Dad wrote a lot of the music used in the ceremony and her mum arranged most of the flowers many of which came from their garden. James’s mum made the wedding cake. Alex and James made the table plan and the table name cards. Alex and James had chosen countries they had traveled to for their table names, they had even photocopied the correct stamp for each country from their parents stamp collections! The top table’s name was kept a secret from Alex until they entered the dining room as the table name was the destination for the honeymoon! Alex’s dress was stunning, the venue was incredible and all the details were finished beautifully but the thing that really stood out was the love that these two shared, not just with each other although that was awesome and James’s speech moved the whole room to tears! but the love from their families and friends also. Part of the reason James and Alex chose me for their wedding photography was because they wanted someone to capture the day as it naturally unfolded as their priority was to have a great time with friends and family. Engagement Photography | Laura and Jamie

Here’s our latest engagement Photography session. Jamie and Laura live in the States and are getting married over there in the Summer. Jamie is from the UK so they thought it would be nice to have an engagement shoot over here whilst they were visiting his family for Christmas. We had to postpone the photography session a week because Laura lost her luggage in London on the way over and needed to go shoe shopping! (I might have to try that!!) Jamie wanted to have the shoot in and around Quorn, Leicestershire where he grew up and we had a gorgeous day for it! We went for a walk around Beacon Hill country park where Jamie used to go running every morning. Since there isn’t a lot of colour around in winter (we were lucky because the sun was shining!) we made use of all the amazing texture in the woods, the fallen leaves, criss-crossing bare branches and the long grass in the meadow. We had a walk around Quorn and visited St Bartholomew’s Church and made use of the local italian restaurant’s bright red windows. The engagement shoot was great fun, Laura and Jamie were really relaxed and very smiley and kissy which always makes for great pictures. Photography Leicester | SKJ Martial Arts

I always relish the opportunity to photograph something a bit different (and believe me this was different for me the complete gym-phobic!) so when i got a call from Abi from S.K.J. Martial Arts asking me to do some promotional photography Leicester at their official launch and Taster session I was really looking forward to it. Sticks, Kicks and Jits (SKJ) Martial Arts offers women the unique opportunity to train in three martial arts in one training session; Stick fighting, Kick boxing and Jiu jitsu, it is also the only club of this kind that offers the chance to train with only female instructors, successful in their disciplines. 50 women attended the taster session on saturday and the atmosphere was amazing. There were all kinds of women taking part from World, Eurpoean and National champions in their chosen sports to those who, until a few days ago, had never tried anything like this. The team running the event are amazing, really friendly, great trainers and very talented. SKJ run a womens only training session in leicester on Thursday evenings 6 – 8.30 pm. If you have kids you can bring them too and they can take part in a kids training session which runs at the same time. So if you’re in Leicester and want to try something new, get into shape or simply burn off a few calories after Christmas then give Abi a call on the number below and she’ll be happy to help. You never know you could be a future competitor on the national or international stage!

Christmas Wedding | Mary and Ed

A flying visit back to Harlaxton Manor in Lincolnshire to capture some images of Ed and Mary’s Christmas Wedding. I was only there for the ceremony and photographs afterwards (I did sneak up to get a few pictures of the bride getting ready!) so a short day for me but just as lovely all the same. The great Hall looked awesome with the fire lit and a huge christmas tree centre stage. The christmassy theme was continued later as the guests were served mulled wine and hot mince pies, the smell was fantastic! Ed was hoping for a sprinkling of snow but it wasn’t to be. Mary and Ed left the guests gathered around the fire and braved the cold for a few shots of them outside, Ed carrying Mary over the mud!, so romantic!

Ed’s ring was a little reluctant to go on!
